Case study · WizKidsCarnival
From manual chaos to scalable success: how we scaled WizKidsCarnival's MVP.
In the early stages of a startup, the biggest risk isn't building the wrong product, it's building one that works too well before your infrastructure is ready to handle the growth.

About the client
Empowering young talent.
WizKidsCarnival was founded by Abhishek Awadhani, Mansi Awadhani, and Vinayak Palankar to solve a specific problem in the Indian education landscape: the lack of accessible platforms for children to showcase non-academic talents.
The founders envisioned a space where kids could compete in drawing, singing, and dancing, earning recognition beyond standard school grades. To test this vision, they built a lean MVP, a static website with basic forms and payment gateways. While it successfully proved that parents were willing to pay for these contests, the back-end was essentially held together by manual labor.
The challenge
The friction of success.
Success brought its own set of hurdles. As participation grew, the founders found themselves drowning in "spreadsheet hell." Every new contest required the operations team to:
- Manually manage participant data via Excel.
- Handle submissions through email, which made managing large video files a technical nightmare.
- Send manual email confirmations and certificates.
- Rely on an engineer every time a new contest page needed to be created.
For parents, the friction was even higher. Having to re-enter their children's details for every single competition led to high drop-off rates and poor user experience. The team realized they were at a breaking point: they couldn't scale the business without first scaling their technology.
The solution
Connecting the dots with intelligent engineering.
The WizKidsCarnival team didn't just need more code, they needed a partner who understood the nuances of MVP development for startups. We delivered a targeted, phased upgrade built on three pillars.
01
User-Centric Dashboard
We moved from a static form-based site to a secure user portal. Parents could now create a persistent profile, save multiple child profiles, track contest history, and download certificates without ever leaving the platform.
02
The 'Command Center' Admin Panel
We built a custom internal tool that empowered the operations team. They could now launch, score, and manage competitions in clicks rather than hours. All participant data was aggregated automatically, removing the need for manual spreadsheet updates.
03
Self-Service CMS
By integrating a robust Content Management System, we removed the engineering bottleneck. The operations team could now push new contests live in minutes, significantly increasing their time-to-market.
A look inside
Two surfaces. One connected platform.
Parents got a single account to manage every child and every contest. The operations team got a command center to launch and run those contests in clicks.

Key features delivered
What we shipped.
Secure user authentication
Centralized data storage for participant history and certificates.
Multi-child management
Manage profiles for several children under one account to reduce re-entry friction.
Integrated submission portal
Direct file uploading to replace clunky email and Dropbox workflows.
Automated communications
Triggered emails for payments and onboarding, keeping users engaged without manual intervention.
Admin dashboard
A single view for contest management, participant assessment, and performance tracking.
The results
A carnival of growth.
Forty-five days after launch of the upgraded platform, the results spoke for themselves. By automating the "boring" back-end tasks, we freed the founders to focus on user acquisition and growth strategy.
40%
Sign-up to enrollment conversion
Account sign-ups converted into active contest enrollments after the platform upgrade.
2x
Repeat participation in 3 months
Enrolled users participated in an average of 2 contests within just 3 months.
+50%
Child profiles vs. active users
Parents created 50% more child profiles than there were unique users, a clear stickiness signal.
In their words
"Bowstring Studio has quickly become a valuable partner for us. Their plug-and-play model allowed us to ramp up our development process like an in-house team. In just a few months, they were able to automate our back-end processes and improve our web application's user interface. This has made a huge difference in our business, and we are delighted with the results."
